Squeezing the Most Out of Summer: My Lemon-Themed Display Shelf
There’s just something about the vibrant, cheerful pop of lemon yellow that screams summer, isn’t there? It instantly brings to mind thoughts of ice-cold lemonade on a warm afternoon, bright sunny skies, and a slower, more intentional pace of life.
Every year, I look forward to bringing that crisp, refreshing vibe indoors. But this season, I decided to switch things up a bit! Instead of styling my usual tiered tray, I turned my attention to a cozy display shelf—and I might just be a total convert. A shelf gives you a little more breathing room to tell a story with your decor, layer in different heights, and create a truly magical focal point.
If you are looking for a little inspiration to brighten up a corner of your home, here is a peek at how my Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy summer shelf came together!

Layering with Heights and Soft Lighting
To start, I wanted to flank the shelf with beautiful, lush greenery and pops of bright yellow fruit. I used two gorgeous floral arrangements packed with faux lemons, vibrant green leaves, and delicate white blossoms.
A Little Styling Tip: Don’t forget the lighting! I wrapped a delicate strand of warm fairy lights through the branches and down into the clear glass vase. When the evening rolls around, the entire shelf takes on a soft, cozy glow that makes the room feel incredibly inviting.
Handcrafted Details and Sweet Details
The middle of the shelf is where the real personality comes to life. I grouped a trio of charming wooden blocks; each in a different cheerful yellow pattern—from classic polka dots and subtle lemon prints to a vintage-inspired yellow gingham check. Each one is topped with a tiny green leaf and a rustic bow for that perfect touch of simple, handmade charm.
Right in front, a little vintage-style yellow farm truck is loaded up with its summer harvest of fresh lemons, parked next to a long, winding strand of yellow, white, and grey wooden beads.
A Nod to Cozy Reading
Because no display of mine would feel quite complete without a nod to the love of reading, I tucked a bookish detail into the background! Right behind the main display, I used my DIY Book Bouquet to add a lovely, neutral texture that anchors the bright yellow tones beautifully. To tie it all together, a set of mini decorative book blocks sits on the right, stamped with the classic summer motto: Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy.
Swapping out the tiered tray for a dedicated display shelf gave me so much room to play with layout, light, and layers this year. Every time I look at it, I can’t help but smile and feel a little reminder to slow down, savor the sunshine, and appreciate the simple joys of the season.

Thanks’ so much Joanne.
I’ve gotten pretty minimal with seasonal decorating especially now that my parents moved in! I always love lemons for summer and will be pulling mine out soon.

I live in an apartment now, I love decorating but have had to scale down and just do minimal because of space and storage. But I miss when I had my house. Lol.
Such a bright and cheerful summer shelf — the lemons bring such an easy, happy freshness to the space. I love how you styled everything with that light, welcoming touch that feels so warm and effortless. Thank you for sharing with us at The Crazy Little Lovebirds link party.
