Savoring Summer: My Small Space Lighthouse Decor
There is something incredibly soothing about coastal decor as the warm weather settles in. The gentle blend of deep ocean blues, sandy neutrals, and the steady, reassuring presence of a lighthouse brings an instant sense of calm. Living in an apartment means I don’t have vast expanses of wall or floor space to dedicate to massive seasonal transformations. However, I truly believe that small spaces shouldn’t limit our creativity—they simply invite us to be more intentional.
This week, I set out to transform my main living area into a cozy maritime haven, focusing on standard surface spaces like the sofa and the media console table. By leaning into a cohesive color palette and a single, beautifully executed theme, I managed to capture the essence of a peaceful afternoon by the sea without making my home feel crowded.
The Anchor Piece: A Cozy, Coastal Couch
The living room transformation began with the sofa, which serves as the room’s central anchor. To set the tone immediately, I layered a beautifully detailed, artistic lighthouse throw blanket over the center cushion. The print features a classic stone lighthouse perched on a rugged cliffside, surrounded by crashing waves and soaring seagulls under a soft sky.

To balance the display, I flanked the throw blanket with two matching accent pillows. These pillows mirror the deep indigo and soft white crests of ocean waves, with a crisp white lighthouse standing tall right in the center. Because the sofa fabric is a rich, neutral tone, these vibrant blue textiles pop, immediately drawing the eye and making the entire room feel like a cozy seaside cottage. Above it all on the wall, the large feather decal containing a hidden lighthouse vignette brings the entire vertical space into harmony.
Styling the Shoreline Console Table
Beneath the television console, I had the perfect opportunity to create a detailed, layered vignette that feels like an actual walk along the beach. I started with a beautiful blue-and-white woven table runner that mimics the shifting shades of ocean water and sandy shores.

To give the space structure and a distinctly nautical texture, I took a thick, natural jute rope and carefully snaked it across the runner in flowing, organic loops. I threaded a delicate strand of warm white fairy lights through the rope, which casts a soft, magical glow across the display in the evenings. Inside the loops of the rope, I scattered an array of authentic seashells—some flat and fan-shaped with rich orange tints, others delicately spiraled or striped.

The height variations across the console keep the eye moving beautifully. I arranged miniature navy-and-white wooden lighthouses, wrapped in tiny decorative fishnets, alongside a pair of beautiful white vintage-style lanterns filled with matching fairy lights. A beautifully pattern-matched blue-and-white mosaic candle jar rounds out the texture, creating a perfectly balanced maritime escape.
Mixing Old Favorites with Budget-Friendly Finds
Decorating beautifully doesn’t have to mean spending a fortune! Almost everything in this display—including the gorgeous lighthouse throw blanket, the matching wave pillows, the coastal table runner, the light-up lanterns, the mini lighthouses, and the collection of real seashells—was sourced affordably from Temu.
What truly gives a styled space its heart, though, is mixing brand-new finds with pieces you have treasured over the years. To complete the console display, I brought out a few beloved items I picked up at Dollar Tree a few years ago:

✨The Textured Anchors: I placed two matching, heavy-textured decorative anchors—one in a rich navy blue and the other in a deep, rustic brick red—on small clear display stands to give the vignette a steady, grounded feel.
✨The Canvas Prints: On opposite ends of the table, I placed two beautiful beachside canvas wraps. One depicts a peaceful pair of wooden adirondack chairs facing a calm blue ocean. At the same time, the other captures soft beach grass swaying against sand dunes and gentle waves.
By mixing these older, beloved Dollar Tree items with my affordable new finds, the entire setup feels cohesive, personal, and full of texture. It is a gentle reminder that with a little imagination, a bit of budget-friendly hunting, and a love for the process, any small space can become a seasonal sanctuary where you can truly savor the moment.
