Welcome back to my little cozy corner! Lately, I’ve been intentional about slowing down and finding joy in the quiet spaces of each day. It’s so easy to let the weeks rush past. Still, this season is all about pausing, looking closer, and practicing the beautiful art of finding contentment in the simple things. Here is a little glimpse into what I’ve been savoring lately:

Birdsong on Demand: I’ve been absolutely savoring my time spent using the Merlin Bird ID app. There is something so magical about turning on the microphone, listening closely, and watching the app identify each sweet creature singing in the trees. It turns every quiet morning into a beautiful, interactive moment with nature.

Backyard Entertainment: Few things are better than sitting outside at my best friend Kim’s backyard pavilion, savoring the lively view. The yard has been full of life lately—from the gentle little bunnies nibbling on grass to the absolutely crazy, wacky squirrels doing acrobatics across the lawn. They never fail to bring a smile to my face.

Becoming a Backyard Person: Speaking of the pavilion, I am truly savoring the simple joy of being a “backyard person” alongside Kim. Spending those slow, peaceful afternoons outside, sharing long conversations, or just sitting together in the fresh air has been the absolute best kind of medicine for the soul.
A Sweet Encounter: The universe gave us a breathtaking little gift the other day. I caught sight of the sweetest, most itty-bitty baby deer wandering all by itself near the tree line. It was an incredibly tender moment, and I stood entirely still, savoring the sight of that fragile, beautiful little life moving softly through the world.
Greenery Indoors: When I am inside, I have been deeply savoring tending to my houseplant collection. Watching new leaves unfurl on my trailing vines, wiping them down, and keeping them thriving brings such a grounding, vibrant energy to my living space. It’s a quiet daily ritual that always calms my heart.

Seaside Comforts in Small Spaces: Lastly, I’ve been fondly savoring my small-space lighthouse decor. It doesn’t take a sprawling home to create a sanctuary; these little coastal touches fit beautifully into my cozy rooms, serving as a sweet reminder of guidance, peace, and the steady warmth of home.

Delicious Dinners Out: I’ve also been thoroughly savoring some amazing meals lately, including a wonderful dinner date at Longhorn Steakhouse. I treated myself to a perfectly grilled steak, savory grilled shrimp skewers over rice, a decadent side of baked macaroni and cheese, and a loaded baked potato. To make the evening even more special, I paired the meal with a fascinating cotton-candy wine made from actual cotton-candy grapes. It was uniquely sweet and an absolute perfection to sip on!

📚 Books Read To Date So Far This Year: 50
📖 Where I’m At in Scripture To Date: Hebrews (ESV)
My journey through the Word continues to be a profound anchor for my days. I love to read through Scripture chronologically, which always helps me savor the grand timeline of God’s story in such a vivid way. To keep the text fresh and to allow myself to find new insights, I switch to a completely different translation or version each time I start over. Because I dive in daily, it usually takes me about 5 to 6 months to read from Genesis to Revelation. Right now, I am right in the middle of a new translation, slowly walking through the history and poetry, and savoring every single page as the timeline unfolds. It is a quiet daily habit that I truly savor, and it brings so much peace to my bedtime routine.
Wrapping Up with Gratitude 🤍
As I look back on these past few weeks, my heart is just so incredibly full. Whether it’s watching the evening light filter through my houseplants, spending precious hours on the pavilion with Kim, or savoring the deep, quiet wisdom of Scripture each morning, I am reminded that life’s greatest blessings aren’t found in the grand gestures. Still, in the quiet, ordinary moments, we choose to pause and notice.
Living intentionally and savoring these simple gifts has brought so much peace to my days, and I hope this little update encourages you to find a moment to slow down and breathe in the beauty around you, too.
Before you go, I would love to catch up with you! What have you been savoring in your own life lately? Have you found any good books or caught a glimpse of any backyard wildlife this week? Let me know in the comments below—I always love reading your thoughts.
